My beauty buddies at work suggested I should put some eye cream. I know the area that really needs my attention is my eyes. It shows how stressed and tired I am even I sleep 7-8 hours a day. Besides I’m in my 30’s already, and unwanted lines are starting to appear in my face.
I can’t stop my age adding up every year but I can at least prevent the visibility of my wrinkles. One of the solutions – EYE CREAM!
Eye cream can be very expensive. Probably it averages to $20.00. I know I have to invest for it,if I want to get rid with my puffy bags and prevent those unwanted lines around my eyes. But I’m a cheap skate! Spending too much for an eye cream is a big no for me.
After researching I found some interesting DIY eye cream from Pinterest; ingredients that are readily available in our pantry. It will cost me almost nothing and I love the idea of using natural products.
The two ingredients are COCONUT OIL and VITAMIN E. Plus a clean container for the homemade eye cream. I used a clean empty container from Olay (50 g) moisturizer.
Here’s How to Make the Eye Cream
- Pour virgin coconut oil (in liquid form) into the clean empty container, I only filled half of it, it’s like I made 25 g eye cream.
- Using clean needle, poke Vitamin E capsules (6 pieces) and mix with the coconut oil.
And that’s it – two ingredients and two quick, easy steps to follow!
Apply the eye cream before you sleep. Dab the mixture gently around your eyes and massage it.
I suggest you only use it at night since it’s oil. Or if you have no work and your only staying at home then you can use it during day time too.
Benefits of Coconut Oil and Vitamin E on Your Skin
Coconut Oil. A greasy thing on a face seems like gross and a a big question if it will really help or will worsen your skin problems like pimples. According to beauty experts coconut is naturally antibacterial and antifungal, coconut oil for skin is an excellent moisturizer. No wonder you can find beauty products that has coconut ingredient.
I remember an old fella back home shared her secret why she has this young looking skin. Yes! It’s the wonder of virgin coconut oil.
Vitamin E is found in some creams for skin. It is claimed that it prevents the formation of wrinkles by blocking free radical damage. It treats wrinkles by boosting collagen production, a connective tissue that keeps skin elastic. Moreover it also treats wrinkles by supporting new skin cell growth and speeding up cell regeneration.
Other benefits of Vitamin E is that i helps lighten the visibility of brown spots and heal cracks of cuticles.
Result and My Verdict
Although this DIY eye cream doesn’t really help the puffiness of my eye bag it somehow moisturize the skin around it. (I usually get dry, itchy and flaky skin on those area especially during cold season). I find it quiet heavy on my skin though.
By the way, I find this mixture a great use as makeup remover too. Even stubborn ink of mascaras can be removed using this.
If you try this DIY eye cream please let me know how it works on you. And if you know any other mixture to create an eye cream that would specifically reduce puffiness of eye bags please… please… share it to me.
